Sightseeing and Shopping in the French Quarter
The French Quarter is the oldest, most famous and oft-visited neighborhood in New Orleans, and no wonder; it enjoys a colorful, rich, storied past, having been established by the French in 1718. Today, it functions as both a residential and commercial community where one can spend a week on vacation and still not get to see all that it has to offer.
Visitors, especially first-timers, can easily get overwhelmed by the French Quarter. There are literally hundreds of things to see, do, taste, hear and feel – and it would be wise and completely worth it to plan ahead and cram as much sightseeing and shopping trips into your French Quarter holiday. Below are just a few of the historical attractions and shopping destinations in the Quarter.
