One of the most anticipated events in Lincolnshire is the Lincolnshire Christmas Market which was started in 1982. The inspiration behind this came from the Neustadt Christmas Market. Neustadt an der Weinstrasse is Lincolnshire's twin town. The Lincolnshire council members who saw the Neustadt Christmas Market decided to set-up a similar Christmas Market in their locality. On the first year, they only had 11 stalls. Since that time, the Lincolnshire Christmas Market never ceased to operate, except for 2010 when there was severe weather disturbance in Lincoln and its surrounding regions.
