When we hear the word scrap we automatically think of things that are broken down or stripped off, things that are recyclable or left over materials. Scrap parts may come from vehicles, buildings, machineries or surplus materials. They are much more than waste material since they have monetary value. In fact, scrap is one of the contributors in the US balance of trade.

Scrap parts recycling also helps lessen greenhouse emission. It also helps in conserving energy and natural resources.

People often associate scrap parts to scrap metals. After all scrap parts are usually metal in nature. As with other things, there is a proper way of disposing or recycling scrap parts. A scrapper usually takes the scrap parts from people who don’t have a need for it and want to get rid of it properly.

Scraps or scrap parts are taken to a junkshop, scrap yard or wrecking yard to be processed for melting into new products. Wrecking yards also offer customers the purchase of scraps even before they are melted into new products. Most wrecking yards sell entire units such as machinery or engines regardless of their usage or function.

Scrap yards, on the other hand, often sell scrap parts by weight and not by item. They even sell bulk metals such as stainless steel and usually charge lower than the retail price of items of the same kind.
