University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)

The Wharton School is the University of Pennsylvania's business school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a donation by Joseph Wharton, a Philadelphian entrepreneur, industrialist, and philanthropist, Wharton was established in 1881 as the world's first collegiate business school. His vision for the school was to create graduates that would become "pillars of the state, whether in private or in public life."

Wharton offers undergraduate and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, a Ph.D. program, and several joint degree programs. The school boasts over 250 faculty members, nearly 5,000 students enrolled in academic programs, and approximately 85,000 alumni. Notable alumni include real estate mogul Donald Trump and his two children Donald Jr. and Ivanka. Wharton has also been named the best business school in the world by the Financial Times.
To be considered for admission into the MBA program, an applicant must submit background information, essays, academic transcripts, two recommendation letters, GMAT or GRE scores, a one page essay, and a $265 application fee. Most students enter with an average of 4 years work experience. Interviews are made by invitation only, and the joint MBA/MA-Lauder program requires a 20-minute oral proficiency interview over the phone.
