There are only 3 things or supplies you need to get started: wax, wick and mold. The most important of the 3 is the wax. There are different kinds of waxes available in the market. The typical wax used in candle making is the paraffin. The amount of wax that you need will depend on the size of the candle that you want to make. Aside from paraffin, you can also use beeswax, which can be a little expensive. There’s Dip and Carve wax, which is perfect in making carved candles. It is available in large chunks and has a more malleable quality. Some would also consider using gel wax. It is technically not a wax but a mixture of oil and polymer. It is clear and sets to a rubbery solid and is translucent.
