Pet Clothing
Clothing isn't just for humans anymore. Recently, there's been a boom in pet owners wanting to clothe their pets in everything from pajamas to coats. Dogs are usually the recipient of these clothes, whether to stay warm and dry or merely for their owner's amusement.
Pet clothing can be functional, decorative, or both. Some are basic t-shirts and windbreakers while others are embellished with furs and chain trim. The clothing is specially made to fit dogs of different breeds and sizes. However, decorative styles, such as seasonal costumes, especially for Halloween, or shirts or sweaters with kitschy patterns or sayings, are more popular for smaller breeds like Chihuahuas or Pomeranians. Larger dogs like Labradors usually wear functional clothing like weather protective gear. This is especially true for dogs that reside in areas with cold or wet conditions.
Although it may seem fun to dress dogs up in wild and crazy clothing, it’s important to take their comfort, happiness, and safety into account, too. Some dogs, such as long haired breeds, will be less comfortable in restrictive clothing. On the other hand, smaller dogs or those with less hair might benefit from the warmth of clothing during the winter months. Larger breeds have a limited choice in clothing, but as clothing for big dogs becomes more popular, there should be more options available.
