Lincolnshire is located in the east of England, an historic county surrounded on almost all sides by water. To its north lay the River Humber, while the North Sea and The Wash border it to the east; the River Trent forms the west boundary while the Rivers Nene and Welland hem it in from the south. It is because of this very strategic location that made Lincolnshire an ideal venue for military aviation to flourish.
