Skegness
Skegness
Located on the Lincolnshire coast of the North Sea, Skegness is a
seaside town and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of
Lincolnshire in England. The Earl of Scarborough owned most of the land
which included today’s downtown core and was part of his estate. He,
together with H.V. Tippet, his agent, recognized that the wide sandy
beach could be turned into a tourist destination that would attract
visitors from the English Midlands. Plans to transform the town into a
resort went underway in 1877 and it rapidly developed.
