Disabilty Benefits

Disabilty Benefits

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines disability (from an impairment) as a “limitation or lack of ability to perform an action or activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being. Disability refers to the temporary or long-term reduction of a person's capacity to function.” Living with a disability anywhere, especially in a hustling and bustling state like Florida can be difficult. Getting around and going through your day doing simple tasks like getting out of bed, or getting your children ready for school can be a painful herculean task and take loads of time to do.

Over 690,000 citizens of Florida are beneficiaries of disability benefits, according to the Florida's official website. This results in over 7.7 billion dollars in cash benefits being disseminated to help disabled citizens with the cost of food, housing and other needs. In the State of Florida, The Division of Disability Determinations works to handle all disability benefits applications. Every applicant must meet a number of requirements regarding medical records and consultations to be eligible for disability benefits in Florida.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed to forbid any kind of disability discrimination in work environments in 1990. This has aided thousands of Americans living with disability to achieve employment and help those with disabilities gain access to the same services as people without disabilities.
