Keep in mind not to scare the trout away when river trout fishing. When trout are scared their tendency will be to swim away and forget about food. And no matter how much you bait they will refuse the food you are offering.

Here are some tips that would help you as you venture into river trout fishing.

→ First you must familiarize yourself with the rules governing river trout fishing. Most of the time you must purchase a fishing license before you can go on a fishing trip. Check with your state’s wildlife management regarding rules, regulations and restrictions.

→ You must have the proper equipment for river trout fishing like rod, reel, hooks, line and weights. These need not be expensive; however, remember the more expensive equipment may last longer than the cheaper ones.

→ Choose a river that is highly populated by trout. Check the river listing provided by your state’s wildlife management. There is normally more than one river near you.

→ Bring the right tackle as well. Light tackle is needed for river trout fishing. You can ask the equipment stores which tackle would be best.

→ When you use bait, make sure what type of bait is permissible. There are three popular baits used for river trout fishing. These are: salmon roe, earthworms and canned corn kernels.

→ Before venturing out check the weather forecast. Although fish bait in almost any season, you might want to stay dry or dress appropriately.
