Allergy testing is a common procedure done in clinics and hospitals. By undergoing allergy testing you might be able to point out the exact or specific things that trigger it. Sometimes people do not have an inkling as to what really sets off their allergy. There are also people who do not realize that they are actually allergic to a particular food or substance. Allergy testing will somehow put your mind at ease because you will know what you shouldn’t expose yourself to and therefore be able to avoid it.

Allergy testing is done either through skin test or blood test. There are two types of skin tests. The first type: a patient is given a dose of the suspected allergen, either through pricking or scratching of the skin’s surface. A sign that the allergy test is positive is when the test spot will have redness and swelling.

The second type of skin test: a suspected allergen will be injected into the skin, usually of the arm or forearm. You won’t feel any pain during skin allergy testing except for some itching or swelling that may occur.v
