Childrens’ Creative Learning Centers
Children’s Creative Learning Centers (CCLC) was founded by Fran Durekas in 1992 as a means to provide high quality early childhood education programs to families in the Bay Area. Fran, who earned a degree in Human Development, wanted to start a career in child care and thus began working at an after-school program near Stanford University. However, she became disheartened with the quality of the program and often found herself having to pay for materials for the center from her own pocket. Opportunity presented itself when the owner of the program offered the program for purchase to Fran, which she gladly accepted.
As soon as she had purchased the business, Fran quickly made remarkable changes which include managing and treating her teachers as professionals, making improvements to the educational program and partnering with families. Within a year, Fran successfully had the center fully enrolled and flourishing.
